As planned, I came out last Thursday, Sue needing to be at home to be available to help look after our Grandson, Seth, who would otherwise probably be in the way for the imminent arrival of his new brother/sister? So here I am, Friday, Saturday & Sunday been and gone, ready for tomorrow morning. Yacht looks good and feels good. Plenty work including a few jobs helping others get ready for their coming season as well. We now have some decent hatch-stays on our four biggest deck hatches. All canvas work thoroughly cleaned and stowed. RIB on davits and engine on RIB (not the easiest of jobs with limited arm-reach and an aching left knee). Even removed the marine-life beard from our waterline before lifting the RIB - and who said us men don't multi-task then? Watched the FA Cup final last night. Disappointing, nevertheless robbed of our second goal that could have made all the difference. Good job sailing is better than FOOTBALL.
Had time to do some shopping this afternoon. First stop Turkcell to buy one week's worth of 3G data. No go because not having bought data for some time they have 'ditched' our SIM and it's just not worth buying a new SIM + 1 month's data when I'm only able to access Turkcell whilst in Turkiye waters, which will be less than a week. Unperturbed I peddled up to the bike-shop to see what they had as 'folding-bikes'. No problem - shut! Was intending to dismantle our two Turkiye "Cheapo" 79 YTL bikes. Unfortunately even in pieces they are too big to stow without risk of damaging other gear. Had made out my shopping list. Ordered 3 x cases Shweps tonic from local shop who promised yacht delivery at 6 pm - no problem nothing turned up. Ah! Big thump on deck at 9pm, one case delivered, outstanding two promised in morning - we hope! Otherwise I'll be after a refund (please). Better news n Tansas. Bought 10 eggs - only nine survived, however, I salvaged the broken egg and ate it with it's brother, fried with buttered toast (3 days old bread only fit for sterilising in the toaster| and my fried one and a half eggs on toast was so good too. Tomorrow morning will be busy so intend getting up and out to the market for 8 a.m. opening time to get me fresh local veg & fruit. Then to the bakers for some scrummy bread (to freeze and have 'near fresh' for next few weeks. Then it's one last run to the bike shop. Office (to get Sue taken off our transit log) collect boat keys and settle an ambiguous electricity bill. Quick visit to the chandlers to see if they have replacement for our worn-out Greek courtesy flag + an additional Croatia courtesy flag. Gonna be busy to get away for 10 a.m. me thinks.
It's about 55 NM to Kekova and another 15 or so to Kas, where friends have promised to feed me! Me thinks that's an incentive to go the extra mile, daylight time and favourable weather permitting. Hoping to get towards Fethiye by Wednesday to meet up with David & Jessie before they depart Misty Ewe and go home to Scotland.
And finally, whilst Yacht-Alone my skype is 'ticketeeboo55' because Sue is using our 'joint skype' to talk to me from time to time.
All navigation aids and lights checked so lets go read myself to sleep. Night night Sue xxx
