For a few days it looked like we might be enjoying a little more of our English Spring then suddenly flights resumed and here we are at the other end of another outward journey, busy getting the yacht ready to depart on a series of short passages towards the North Aegean. It's best to get up to the most Northerly parts before the Meltemi settles in for the Summer. If this passage plan is right we get an easier ride North, otherwise it could be hard work some of the time!
If every thing's fine, we want to be underway on Saturday. Spent most of yesterday cleaning & polishing the prop' (underwater) and checking the hull for fouling. Using a plastic scraper to clean water-beasties from the prop' takes time. It also makes sure the metal surfaces remain unscratched so that new colonies of beasties find it more difficult to get attached to us! Hopefully, they give-up and move on to make their new home on an alternative unsuspecting nearby yacht. Very impressed with the hull antifouling. Having spent an arm & a leg having Coppercoat applied I'm pleased to see the fouling, which is mostly like powdery dirt, is falling away by itself. Anodes appear fine too so my little underwater inspection is a hit! Sue & I also spent a large part of yesterday cleaning the canvas covers & decks - that did take us a lot of work after 3 months build-up of dirt, grime & cat hairs! (WE both agree to there being only room for one pussy on our yacht & the one we have does not like Kity-kat either. Back to work........... more fun...........sails next! Here's the latest edition to our family.......... our new Grandaughter Sophie May, born 3rd March.
